( Environmental News ) – Tran Van Son , deputy of Department for quality management and protection of fisheries resources , the Department of Agriculture – Rural City, said that the cause of this phenomenon was local pollution; therefore, fishes float to the surface to get oxygen
The number of fish which raise their heads has been the biggest up to know.
According to Mr. Son, Nhieu Loc – Thi Nghe’s canal head (Tan Binh districts, District 3, Phu Nhuan) does not access to natural waterways or river, but all the sewer. After heavy rains, water flows down the canal and carry hazardous substances, pollutants accumulate in the dry season in the corner of the sewer.
On 8th, there were many heavy rains which made water’s quality in Nhieu Loc – Thi Nghe change. The waste water was too much to treat; therefore, water sources was polluted.
According to Mr. Son, this phenomenon previously happened occasionally, but this time, the number of fish which raise their heads has been the biggest up to know. Department of quality management and protection of fisheries resources exclaimed that he would send officials to monitor the situation and take prompt remedial measures.
Taking advantage of this phenomenon, some people used a racket to catch fish, Mr. Son said that the responsibility to prevent, handle belongs to the district People’s Committee.
“If I see somebody catching fish, we remind people not to do that to protect fisheries resources. However, the primary responsibility belongs to the district People’s Committee.” Mr. Son exclaimed.
As news in the morning on Sep. 9th, thousands of fish raised in Nhieu Loc – Thi Nghe canal, coming from Binh Thanh District Tan Binh District. There are many people used rackets and sacks to bring fish to their home.
